7 colors of earth

A very interresting geological phenomenon found in Chamarel, Mauritius.

From what i found out, the colored sands originated in molten vulcanic rock cooling at different rates, erosion then grinding it down to sand. Apparently the material has the strange property of settling into destinct layers, resulting in this display of differently colored patches of earth.
